Let's take a moment to dream.
Imagine a world where millions of Poles always have at hand a personal trainer assisting them to maintain their fitness, a dietitian overseeing their daily diet, a chef concocting recipes for them, a career expert helping them in their everyday work or a tech expert solving their IT issues.
Visualize a reality where every single student in Poland, amounting to several millions, has access to an ideal, patient teacher who can step-by-step, accurately explain any possible subject in a way that matches the student's age and knowledge level. And if someone needs a quick hint, they can seek the support of a tutor available 24/7.
And what if every entrepreneur or manager could benefit from the assistance of a business consultant, pointing out the optimal solution for every conceivable problem?
Thanks to artificial intelligence, these visions can soon become reality. Just a little more patience is needed.
But I am not patient. I don't want to wait another moment, another year. That's why I created this future. After hours. With GPT-4, and alongside GPT-4.
I present to you Czat.ai – the first product of my new AI lab, Wondel.ai. This platform enables anyone to harness the power of artificial intelligence, employing specially designed characters – initially Career.ai, ComputerSpecialist.ai, Consultant.ai, Teacher.ai, Tutor.ai, Dietitian.ai, Trainer.ai, Chef.ai, and Gardener.ai. Please note that the real domains and character names mentioned in this article are in Polish.
These characters are the next stage of AI evolution. Specialized assistants, designed with a significant simplification of your life in mind, require no special knowledge from you and stand ready to effectively solve your problems.
I believe that such specialized characters, not a “chat-for-all”, are the natural direction for popular products intended for a broad audience. Recently, it turned out that Mark Zuckerberg also shares this belief.
What's the difference between these characters and ChatGPT? Why are they needed at all?
Each of them has a completely different approach to answering questions. They utilize all possible techniques to ensure the quality of responses is top-notch. They inquire for necessary information before preparing a response. They engage in dialogue with users.
Each of them has a different personality. Some are more introverted, others extroverted. They have different priorities and goals, but each strives to be as helpful and supportive as possible.
Each of them has a different language and communication style. A conversation with Czat.ai will look completely different than with Intelligence.ai or Homie.ai.
Each of them will be able to draw from different sources of knowledge. For instance, Teacher.ai can reach into textbooks and curricula, while Chef.ai - hundreds of Polish cookbooks, which GPT had no insight into.
The free ChatGPT is much less intelligent, because it uses a much inferior model (GPT-3.5). Meanwhile, all characters are based on the best artificial intelligence model currently available, namely GPT-4 (the same one used by the paid ChatGPT Plus). Anyone who spends 10 minutes comparing the two models will immediately feel the difference.
Czat.ai is designed to effortlessly handle both a few thousand and a few million users per month – thanks to very conscious, yet non-obvious architectural choices. The only technical limitation is OpenAI's API limits, which will however be quickly increased.
This project is not a direct competition for ChatGPT. Neither the free nor the paid version. It is a solution for all those who have not regularly used ChatGPT so far because they had no such need, didn't know how to do it, didn't have time for prompting courses, were discouraged by the "hallucination" of the free ChatGPT (with a much worse GPT-3.5 under the hood) or didn't want to pay $25 a month for a ChatGPT Plus subscription.
There's one more thing. There's another area where artificial intelligence can bring about significant change. This area is mental health. I was considering how to approach creating Psychologist.ai and Psychotherapist.ai, but launching such services is not trivial for an after-hours project, it requires the involvement of experts, a significant amount of work, and many months of testing. That's why I started from a different angle.
You might be familiar with the concept of therapy animals. Interactions with them help with mental health issues, improve mood, and reduce feelings of isolation. Therefore, meet therapeutic chatbots with a similar role. Puppy.ai wants to play, Kitten.ai cuddles and wants to be stroked, Homie.ai converses, and FemaleFriend.ai and MaleFriend.ai listen and provide support. Non-stop, without break, at arm's length.
The launch of Girlfriend.ai and Boyfriend.ai, unfortunately, has to wait for changes in OpenAI's rules, as they currently block some key capabilities that such characters should have. Who knows, maybe soon there will be a new model of comparable quality without such restrictions?
What about costs and monetization? The main goal of the project is to make artificial intelligence accessible to millions of Poles so they can use it every day. Using GPT-4 isn't cheap though and it has its limits. The original plan was to make the platform 100% paid, but instead of costing 100 PLN (like ChatGPT Plus), the entry threshold was to be as low as possible (9.99 PLN). For this price, I wanted to offer a certain number of responses. Over time, and with the change in GPT-4 costs, the number of messages in the package could increase.
The first challenge will surely be to build a reach. During the first tests, an obvious fact emerged very quickly – users should receive at least a few trial messages for free and feel the value in order to achieve this reach. I can, of course, freely control the limit of free messages and how the free limit works. I also introduced an additional package for 4.99 PLN to further minimize the entry threshold.
Of course, there's also the Silicon Valley alternative – focusing 100% on building reach and monetizing only in the next step. But this would already require an investor with a much richer portfolio than mine.
In April 2023, 2.8 million users from Poland used ChatGPT. This means that probably only tens of thousands of people are using the Plus version with GPT-4, while the group of people who haven't used ChatGPT is about 26 million people. This is the target group for Czat.ai.
Regardless of how the fate of this project unfolds, it's already a success for me. I've gained unique, practical knowledge on how to build scalable AI projects with the help of AI – and after a few months of working with the GPT-4, I know how to step by step realize a working proof-of-concept for practically any idea I can imagine.
The only thing left is to continue to make use of it, primarily in Morizon and Gratka, where we can build more AI solutions based on strong pillars, unique data, and broad reach, engaging a team of several dozen people for this.
What does the future hold? Only a fortune teller can answer that question. FortuneTeller.ai.
